The other Georgia

On Sunday, April 27 I'll be departing for a 27-month adventure in the Republic of Georgia as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I just wanted to get this blog up and running, and hopefully I'll be periodically updating it with posts and pics of life in Georgia to prove I'm still alive and kickin'.

Georgia (a.k.a. Sakartvelo in the native tongue) is located in the Caucasus region, adjacent to Russia, Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. You can check out Georgia's Wikipedia page here.

I'll be teaching English as a foreign language to Georgian students in various grades, hopefully providing them with an important tool for improving their future prospects in life. Knowledge of the English language is an increasingly valuable asset in Georgia as the country attempts to break away from Russian influence and join the European Union.

I'm stoked for the journey to begin and I hope y'all enjoy the blog.
